There are two Emergency Animal Hospitals in the area that we use for after hour and holiday emergencies. Emergencies will happen, even though nobody likes it. Emergency hospitals provide a better option than what can be offered within a general veterinary care facility. While a small animal veterinary practice hospital cannot be staffed 24/7, an emergency animal hospital is staffed at those times with at least one veterinarian and several highly trained veterinary technicians (nurses). They provide the continued monitoring or treatment that is needed in evenings, weekends and holidays.
